Landscaping | the journey to buchanan vivant

The current downtown scene includes numerous trees, benches, and lamp posts, that will hold holiday and civic decorations. To tie Buchanan Vivant closer to the landscape of Jefferson Street many of these similar features have been duplicated. Sidewalk pavement options will also be similar to that of Jefferson street by using sidewalk pavers in the general surrounding areas of the building and for the main path of travel on the southward and westward side treatments that allow for up lighting will be used.

With the addition of the second stairwell in the bottom right corner the three lofts will change into 3 unique units consisting of an efficiency, one bedroom, and two bedroom

When it came time to decide how to tackle the exterior of the building I decided to keep within the trends of downtown Lafayette and keep the facade as original as possible so that the building may continue to hold onto it's history. In many of these images you will see where upward and downward lights were added to the exterior so that the building may standout.

Lighting | phase one

Buchanan Vivant is located at about a 49 degree angle giving the westward corner and ideal view of the sunset. Unfortunately the eastward side of the building does not have have any windows for the most part the loft tenants will not be able to take advantage of the morning light. Conveniently, Buchanan Vivant is one of the taller buildings in the downtown Lafeyette area so there will not be much natural light disruption.

Buchanan Vivant is located right in the heart of downtown Lafayette, just one block off of Jefferson Street. Tenants may take advantage of on-street parking and the parking lot across the street while patrons may also partake in the on-street parking, parking lot across the street, or take a relaxing stroll through the downtown area if choosing the park in the parking garage located 4 blocks away.

The Focus | where will the project take me

Buchanan Vivant and Velvet Noir's focus will be a detailed material, furniture, fixture, and equipment (FF&E) specifications. The ground and basement levels of Velvet Noir will be similar in theme and will include specifications of all materials and FF&E, a detailed finish plan, along with spreadsheets and schedules of materials and FF&E explaining the location of application. Three of the six lofts of Buchanan Vivant will be developed showing the differnt plans with finishes but these finish selections will act as three styles that the tenants may choose from for their style of the loft.
